How do we do this?

We are hoping to get many mappers on board to help us do this, but how are we going to have more than one person working at a time... Forgive me if i sound stupid but i dont understand how we do this.
I thought maybe 1 person does the base map, like a height map so we get the scale right then people work on each sector adding deatails and stuff. But no doubt you lot have a proper way to do it?

well:
-base map will be build (just a big landmass a circle or an egg....)
-a scale have to be formed (like in the video)
-----------------------------------
-coasts have to be formed
- highs and lows
-details

hm I think the first two steps have to be made by one person at a time, there is no other way....

but butbutbut wait ... If several people are working at the same time it means that we'll have several esp. files for the world, that might cause problems... Or will it be an esm. file ?

multipal people could work on different sectors and create many esp files, then once the entire map is finished it could be combined using the CK to make one esp or esm that has the map in it. i think that would work.

The problem that creating the map from scratch is too long. I think that's better if you divide into regions, then you can assemble them all. Doing everything alone is not possible.

We could do it as they do it in Tamriel Rebuilt. Build the map in chunks, then connect them.

I'd be all for that, doing the map in pieces that can be hooked up later seems a lot easier personally, but this is a democracy (sadly) and the poll vote passed that we'd do it all at once... Sad

Edit from below: Oh! Okay then, much simpler Smile I was afraid most mappers would fall into a panic attack when they realised how big Alagaesia as a worldspace would be to construct as one big piece; obviously it will eventually be hooked up as one big piece.

Also this means that each mapper can be assigned to a certain locale and we can stick the mappers in a rota, so that the guy working ahead of you tosses his locale back to you for the next level of building after he's done the height map (for example) and so forth, meaning that every mapper will have left some small personal imprint on every league of Alagaesia Smile

no the poll that passed stated that it will be in one worldspace. It didnt decide how we'd put it in one worldspace.

considering a vast majority of the towns are in the west of the area, most of the actual map will be desert plains, the forest and the mountains will be a pain...
