Bows

Alright, so in skyrim we all know that every bow basically is made out of a metal (I personally hate it, i love the regular, newbie longbow). Anywho, would the bows in Alagaesia be more of the wooden, bone, and slightly reinforced with metal? I can sketch some out soon in example.

well as we know the humans use regular bows and crossbow (empire), the elves use wooden bow from wood that goes grow and the dwarfs make these out of horns

Wouldn't urgal horn bows become abolished at this point considering that Urgals now are considered people?

maybe the horns from their giant goats?

why should the urgal horn bows be outlawed? you don't have to kill them to cut off their horns.

Yeah but i doubt any urgals would go and offer up their horns, they probably wouldn't like to see thier ancestors horns in the hands of dwarves either.

how about there be roving bands of urgals that raid villages and you get a bounty to kill them. but off of there dead bodies you get urgal horns. I just don't like the idea of the horn bows being outlawed because i want one and i don't want to break the law to get one

Horn bows= Urgal killed during the arena. Didn't forget about the arena now did you? So the died bodys of urgals(from arena raids etc.) can be harvested for horns. As long as you didnt kill the urgal(except for the arena) horn bows arent outlawed

I agree with Saker about the Horn Bows I think most people'll want one, though I don't think looting them from raiding parties would be any better because that's part of Urgal culture. Nolo's idea has merit, Urgals that aren't up to snuff combat-wise and banished/dishonourable Urgals can be elites you run into randomly and ofc like 99 says if you defeat one in mortal combat in an/the arena, to the victor go the spoils.
[Important Note: Urgal Horn Bows can only be made by a skilled/specialised crafter, just getting a horn doesn't guarantee you a bow from it.]
But I do think these bows should be fairly rare/coveted and we'll have some more common contraband Horn bows, maybe even some cheap fakes?
Perhaps some roving criminal bands of Urgal hunters when they realise the market is open, the guards have to 'officially' try and stop Urgal persecution and murder, but most will look the other way tbh even without a bribe I'd wager.
I was planning on adding a reputation debuff/decrease with Urgals every time you're spotted with a Horn bow; or perhaps just a one time large sum decrease, but it'd be nice to include a 'recognised' Urgal Horn Bow (no debuff) that you can strut around an Urgal settlement with, without being spat on; unlike the other races the Player can kill an Urgal (honourably) and not suffer any reputation decrease or arrest warrant, Urgals' entire culture is based on warrior customs, proving yourself in battle and survival of the fittest. If you can best a Kull one-on-one I'm pretty sure you'll get a reputation increase.

maybe a older rider asks you to get some from a pack of bandits in a random cave/fort (radiant quest) and when you return them to him you can lie and keep one.

can you please make a few variants of the crossbow for each bow that you make it would be good if you had a crossbow counterpart

Maybe you have an urgal freind, (lets call him adam for now) he dreams of living away from the tribes in a huge house (Manor) on his own, rolling in money. He decides to go into the arena and have people bet on him then share out the winnings. You help him train and stuff but one day he goes into the arena and is faced by a kull who is known to be the strongest in alagaesia, you tell him to back out rather than die but he refuses. He dies in the arena but his dying words are "...On the desk in my room" .
The next day you investigate his room and find a letter addressed to you, it explains how the night before the fight he was in the inn and was drunk he went up to the kull and insulted his wife, saying that the girl adam loved is better looking, the kull said to fight him in the arena or he will have adams dream woman killed. He couldn't let that happen so he agreed. He said to thank you for his training he offers you his horns if he dies, aslong as you go visit the girl he loved and give her all his earlier winnings.

how about one of the empires little mages or a group of them unleash a new shade and that makes the urgals its bitches again there we go you have as many horns as you damn well please
