It would, if we would be making a game from last millenia.
Hi quality model is required for normalmapping.
Normal map affects the models lighting. so we can get the detailed (100k+ verts) normal map, and apply it to low poly model (few hundred verts) and it looks like all the details are there.

yes.
only when the model is completely sideways, you will see that the details really arent there.
