Riders custom sword

It would be cool if your sword would scale up in power as you level up and use it. Maybe as the blood of your foes washes over it, it absorbs some of there power?

yeah i mentioned earlier it would need its own skill tree. but i like the idea of tethering it to kills

This is kinda long... Alright. So, maybe if you want to make it so that YOU smith the sword (can customize the hilt, crossguard, gem, blade, etc) make it so that the swords require multiple pieces, and that you smith the required pieces with brightsteel etc (wood for the handle, whatever flawless gem you want for your gem, etc), and after you have all of the peices (you could choose from say, 5 different types of blades) you can talk to rhunon and exchange the peices for the created sword (maybe watch some cutscene) and then... bam.

But remember the handle isn't made of wood to make it you'd only need bright steel a flawless gem and leather strips it says the sword is made out I one tempered pice of bright steel I'm sure of it .

well at the end of the book remember that eragon finds a huge amount of swords in galby's fortress, maybe those can be customized for each player

As in melted down? I'm not sure, I think more brightsteel should be found near mor'ranr and as for forging it yourself I'm not sure either But collecting the materials, yeah and I like the idea of a customisation screen though very much infact.

Well, maybe in order to learn how to forge your own sword, you have to do lots of simple, but aggrivating tasks (Knowledge is valuable). After the tasks you could get an optional quest to forge your sword. Dunno, just 'swingin for the fences.

But remember it would take years to reach the level of smithmanship of rhunon, but I reckon the tasks are good. Maybe a way of proving your worth so that rhunon would forge you a sword.

I suppose, but maybe you'd need over 100 smithing to smith them. It could go either way in my opinion, but since rhunon swore not to forge another sword it would require more... elaborate ways? (if you decided not to have her forge it through you)

well considering the mods set ten years after the IC and were out of alagaesia why not have rhunons apprentice or something? that'll remove the complications with her not forging another sword

Possible. I dont even remember if its possible, but couldnt someone break oaths they made in the ancient language? If not, having her have an apprentice would make partial sense.

if they change their true name, but i don't think she would go through all that trouble just to make a sword again

Well, eragon learned the name of all names.. he could have released rhunon from her oath.

Dont forget that for swords brightsteel would be needed. So to get your sword you need to find some brightsteel. just like what jierda said, Rhunon will need brightsteel to make the swords. SO how about the a quest "Know your steel" activates once you ask her so then you need to go and find brightsteel for your sword. ANd after you have the the brightsteel it can sortof be like the charcter creation except for swords?

Hmm, very similar to my idea for general weapons. If you do do this, go all out. Leaf blades, backwards curved blades, forward curved blades, Celtic blades, arming swords, gladius's, spatha's, norman swords, viking swords, war knives,
ring swords (my personal favorite), rapiers, two handed swords of all types, hand and a half, and chersuker's. Really blow people out of the water. You could even release this system early into the actual skyrim game on nexus and steam workshop, to get people interested in the overall mod. This might attract some scripters, mappers, and other people we desperately need.

for any one who is interested, i have been working on a "little" script that will make a sword scale up in power as you get kills with it. maybe it can be implemented for the riders swords in our final mod

That sounds like a great idea to me. I think after you finish killing everyone thats around you something equivalent to what it looks like when you kill a dragon should happen
